Ann Hastings Obituary

Anna “Ann” Vivian Hastings (Farnik), a beloved figure cherished by her family and
community, peacefully passed away on March 9th, 2024 at the remarkable age of 102.
Born June 13, 1921, in Colorado, Anna lived a long life rich in experiences, love, and
compassion.

She married her husband, James Hastings, August 21, 1939 at the age of 18. Together
they had 7 children and lived in many places before settling in Moses Lake, WA in 1965.
Ann was a beacon of kindness and wisdom to all who knew her. Throughout her
century-long journey, Ann touched the lives of countless individuals with her generosity,
patience, and unwavering optimism.

Raised in a farming community in Colorado, Ann learned the value of hard work and
perseverance from an early age. She carried these lessons with her throughout her life,
embodying resilience in the face of adversity and always finding strength. She was
taught by her parents to be honest, trustworthy, and always help others.
Through her willingness to give and sacrifice for those around her, Ann was a
remarkable example and hero to many. She valued the joy her parents had through
helping and serving and wanted to emulate that in her own life. You could never leave
her house empty handed, she always had something to give away and would share with
you at least 5 different ways to use the treasures she had saved. She was an avid
thrifter and remarkable at crafts. This would lead her to countless ways to use a foam
bowl, or vinyl and fabric scraps. She was also a master of the art of crocheting and
shared her gift with everyone. Her family cherishes these crafting treasures and still
have many around. We think of her every time we use a potholder or blanket that she
made for us.

Above all else, Ann will be remembered for her unwavering love and devotion to her
family. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and
great-great-grandmother, whose love knew no bounds. Her legacy of hard work,
kindness, and strength will live on in those she leaves behind.

The passing of Ann Hastings leaves a void in the lives of all who knew her, but her
memory will continue to inspire and uplift us. She is survived by her children Connie
(Jerry) Hakola, Lana Foster, Doug Hastings, and Linda Koziol, and approximately 15
grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren. She was
preceded in death by her husband James, her sons Jimmy, Jake and Stanley Hastings.

A celebration of Ann's life will be held on the 23 rd of March 2024 at Pioneer Memorial Gardens Cemetary at 230PM in
Moses Lake, WA, where friends and family will gather to pay their respects and share
cherished memories of a life well-lived.
